CINCINNATI (WKRC) — As winter weather creates slick conditions, residents are urged to exercise caution to prevent slips and falls, which often result in injuries such as broken wrists, ankles, and various sprains and strains.
Dr. John Linz, a foot and ankle specialist with OrthoCincy, highlighted the prevalence of ankle injuries during this time of year.
“The ankle is probably one of the most commonly injured joints in the body,” said Linz. “Everybody knows ankle sprain, everybody has probably had an ankle sprain at some point in time. Fortunately, most of those are minor and can be treated non-operatively. There are very few that need to be treated operatively.”
For those who do sustain an injury, Linz advised against self-evaluation. OrthoCincy is among several local facilities offering urgent care specifically for orthopedic injuries. These walk-in clinics provide proper diagnosis and initial treatment without the long wait times often experienced in emergency rooms.
