JOHN B. JACQUEMIN, MD

JOHN B. JACQUEMIN, MDJohn Jacquemin, M.D., describes himself as a surgeon who does "everything from soup to nuts in regards to the spine," yet he prefers to keep his patients out of the operating room if possible. "I am a very conservative surgeon," he admits. Only about one in 12 patients he sees will have surgery. The vast majority of people get better via medicine, therapy, injections and other treatments, he explains. If surgery becomes necessary, his patients know they have tried everything else. "It makes life a lot happier when you do it that way. My standard line is, 'You will know when it's time.'"

This philosophy has been successful with patients in Greater Cincinnati for the past decade. Dr. Jacquemin grew up in southwest Ohio and attended Stephen T. Badin High School and the University of Dayton, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. In 1996, he received his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati Medical School, then completed a residency in orthopaedics at Syracuse University and a fellowship in spinal surgery at the New England Baptist Hospital.
