Posted By:

NICHOLAS T. GATES, MD

Nick Gates, M.D., Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon, is enthusiastic about a new technique to reconstruct patients with “loose ankles.” These are frequently sprained ankles that cause ongoing pain and giving way. Dr. Gates has been performing ankle ligament reconstruction using traditional and arthroscopic techniques for over 16 years.

This advancement is called Internal Brace augmentation for lateral ligament repair of the ankle. Over the past two years, Dr. Gates has spent time in surgical development labs with biomedical engineers and national and international ankle surgeon colleagues to perfect the new technique.
