Greiwe and Dr. Gates are just two of many OrthoCincy physicians you’ll find on
the sidelines at local college and high school sporting events.
Through the Orthopaedic Institute at St. Elizabeth, a partnership between OrthoCincy, St. Elizabeth Healthcare and St. Elizabeth Physicians, sports medicine services are provided to high schools, middle schools, university and other athletic organizations right here in Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana. Our medical teams consist of physicians, physician assistants, athletic trainers and rehabilitation specialists working together with each athletic partner to develop injury prevention programs and help student-athletes get back in the game as safely and quickly as possible.
Orthopaedic Urgent Care
OrthoCincy realizes that athletes keep going after 5:00, and so do we! Our Orthopaedic Urgent Care offers extended weekday hours and Saturday hours - NO APPOINTMENT NEEDED! You can walk into our safe, clean clinic while avoiding the crowds and high costs of traditional emergency rooms. Each day, we have an expert OrthoCincy physician dedicated exclusively to walk-in patients for comprehensive care for fractures, sprains, strains and all types of sports injuries.

A pre-participation sports physical from OrthoCincy is the first step in making sure an athlete is healthy and ready for the upcoming season. Sports physicals meet the requirements of the state athletic associations to participate with interscholastic elementary, middle and high school sponsored sports programs. Any athlete grades 6–12 who does not have a current pre-participation physical and consent will be required to obtain a completed physical prior to being eligible for competition. This includes any students who transfer from in or out of state who wish to participate in sanctioned sports for the 2022-23 school year.
Sports physicals consist of two parts: a medical history and a physical examination. The goal of sports physicals is to evaluate an athlete's general health, current fitness level, risk of injury and physical well-being. Sports physicals help raise awareness of any issues that may interfere with your child’s ability to participate in a sport. If the athlete has a history of any type of heart condition, documentation from the athlete's primary care or treating physician is required stating the condition has been evaluated and does not prevent participation in sports.
A sports physical should not replace an annual wellness physical.
