A native of Michigan, Dr. Matthew T. DesJardins received his B.S. from the University of Michigan and completed medical school at Wayne State University. After he completed residency training in family medicine at Wake Forest University, his interest in athletic medicine led him to complete a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Utah. He served as a physician for the 2002 Winter Olympics and as a team doctor for the University of Utah.
Dr. DesJardins is board-certified and fellowship trained in sports medicine. He is a member of multiple professional societies and currently serves on the sports medicine advisory committee to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association. He is a consultant for several youth sports organizations, and serves as the Team Physician for Cooper High School, and Northern Kentucky University.
Dr. DesJardins specializes in the nonsurgical treatment of athletic injuries and problems in patients of all ages. He is one of very few physicians using the highly talked about PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy to treat sports medicine injuries. Dr. DesJardins has advanced training in musculoskeletal ultrasound, which he uses in the office to aid in diagnosing and treating orthopaedic problems. He also sees patients for general orthopaedic problems including fractures, arthritis and joint pain.
Dr. DesJardins is also one of OrthoCincy's experts in spine-related disorders. He utilizes a comprehensive approach to spine injury including advanced spinal injections to aid recovery and treat pain.
