Trevor Wilkes, MD, is a
board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in orthopaedic surgery and
sports medicine at OrthoCincy Wellington Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine. Dr.
Wilkes sees patients at the practice’s Anderson, Eastgate, and Kenwood
locations in Cincinnati.
After graduating from
Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina, Dr. Wilkes earned his medical
degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington. He
performed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he won the resident teacher award twice, and a
sports medicine and shoulder fellowship at the Cincinnati Sports Medicine &
Orthopaedic Center.
Dr. Wilkes has been
involved in athletics his entire life, both as a physician and athlete himself
— he was the Central Kentucky Soccer Player of the Year and a two-time
All-State selection in high school, going on to play Division I soccer in
college. He’s been an instructor for skiing, rock climbing, and kayaking, a
certified personal trainer, and is a competitive triathlete and five-time
half-IronmanⓇ finisher. He’s
also served as team physician for numerous high school and college programs,
and the Kansas City Royals minor league team.
Shortly after he began
practicing, Dr. Wilkes won the Lexington Clinic Horizon Award for Best Young
Physician. He’s very active in his field, having written book chapters,
published numerous papers in prestigious orthopaedic journals, and presented
research at national conferences.
Dr. Wilkes maintains a
professional interest in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, total
and reverse shoulder arthroplasty, and joint preservation with cartilage and
meniscus restoration. He’s a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic
Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy
Association of North America.
In his spare time, Dr.
Wilkes enjoys traveling and being outdoors with his wife, a pediatrician, and
their three children and two Labrador retrievers. |
